bluestockings

Bluestockings was a site specific duet created for the January 2014 Asheville Fringe Arts Festival.  Strange daughters butoh and Julie Becton Gillum of Legacy Butoh collaborated as part of the festival’s LaZoom Bus Fringe Tour and performed at The Double Crown.  The duet was inspired by a myriad of subjects such as “Bluestockings” (intellectual circles of women formed in the 1750’s), David Lynch and film noir, Maltese Blue Tigers, drinking coffee, the Virgin Mary and of course, the color blue itself.
